Veterinarian

Dr. Butler is a 1977 graduate of the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to his education at Purdue, Dr. Butler graduated from Reitz High School and the University of Southern Indiana. In his senior year at Purdue (back in the “dark ages”), Dr. Butler won the coveted award for ‘Highest Clinical Proficiency in Both Small and Large Animals.’ He is a life member of the Purdue University Alumni Association. Upon graduation, Dr. Butler was engaged in Small Animal (primarily dog and cat) and Equine (horse) Veterinary Practice. His interest expanded to birds and exotic animals in 1981 and he became a veterinarian for Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden in 1982 and retired from that position in February 2007. That interest in birds, reptiles, and exotic animals has further expanded to such pets owned privately in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. He has been privileged to practice Veterinary Medicine in the Evansville area for 42 years and still has more “fun” days than “no fun” days.

Dr. Butler is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA), and the Southwestern Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (SWIVMA) serving the latter group as secretary-treasurer, vice president, and president. He is a past associate member of the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians (AAZV). In 1997 Dr. Butler and 20 or so of his colleagues opened the All Pet Emergency Clinic in Evansville. This clinic has expanded and enhanced veterinary care for animals . in the entire tristate area.

Dr. Butler has also served in local civic organizations and is a life member of the Vanderburgh Humane Society. He served the City of Evansville as a veterinarian for the Animal Control Shelter for 20 years from 1982 to 2002. He also served a term on the Animal Control and Education Commission.
Dr. Butler and his wife, Tammy, have a blended family that includes Nathan (and wife Jodie), Erin (and husband Jon), Mindy, Lindsey (and husband Brian), and Cassie, as well as three granddaughters, Alexis, Kaitlyn, and Marianne, and grandsons Ethan, Aiden, and Cade.

Dr. Butler is a member of the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus and both he and Tammy are proud past members of the Evansville Ecumenical Choir and are active members of the Tristate Tres Dias community and Vineyard Community Church.

Veterinarian

Dr. Brown joined the staff at Animal Medical Services in June 2011. After obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science from the University of Kentucky in 2005, Dr. Brown graduated Magna Cum Laude from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Dr. Brown has a long list of academic achievements and a history of service to the veterinary and student communities. Since graduation in 2009, Dr. Brown has accumulated an ever-increasing list of accomplishments and activities that one would expect of an enthusiastic and dedicated veterinary professional. She maintains memberships at the national, state, and local veterinary levels through the AVMA, IVMA, and SWIVMA.

Dr. Brown returned home to Kentucky after graduation to practice mixed animal medicine for 2 years before moving to Evansville, Indiana and joining the team at AMS. At AMS, Dr. Brown continues to practice all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine. Her primary areas of interest include internal medicine, dentistry, dermatology, and preventive medicine. Dr. Brown cherishes developing strong relationships with her patients and their pet parents. She strives to make sure her clients are knowledgeable about and comfortable with the treatment options for both their well and sick pets.

In her spare time, Dr. Brown enjoys fishing, gardening, maintaining her home, watching movies, attending mass each weekend, and spending time with her family, friends, and long-time boyfriend Adam Riley. An avid sports fan, Dr. Brown follows the Saint Louis Cardinals baseball team, University of Kentucky, and Auburn University athletics. She can often be seen at the office carrying her soft drink in a sports team koozie.

A graduate of North Posey High School, Tammy has worked for Dr. Butler since 1987. During this time, she has worked in nearly all aspects of the veterinary practice. Presently, her position is that of Office Manager. In 1994, she and Dr. Butler married. She is active in church and the local chapter of Tres Dias. She spends most of her free time at the barn with her horse, Cady, an American Paint Horse. She is a diehard fan of the New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees. She enjoys working to keep the practice running smoothly for you and your pets.

Grooming at AMS has been in the capable hands of Chris since we opened at this location in 2002. She has been a Professional Groomer long before coming to us and we have been blessed to have her on staff.

Paula is a native of Evansville and a graduate of the Nash Academy of Animal Arts. She has been grooming for 20 years and loves her client’s fur kids just like they are her own.

Kelli has worked for AMS since 2011. She has 3 boys with her husband Chris. And to add the already hectic household they have a golden doodle named Poppy (puppy in pic). Kelli loves working for AMS and can’t imagine doing anything else.

Customer Care Representative and Veterinary Assistant

Samantha is a lifelong Animal lover! She has wanted to work in the veterinary setting since she was little. When she got this job, it was like a dream come true. She has 2 dogs, Leo and Lucy, who are her only children.

Renee is a licensed technician with a degree in applied science from Harrison College, where she graduated in 2015. She loves the atmosphere of the Animal Medical Services and has grown close with many of the clients and their pets over the last 4 years. When she isn’t working, Renee likes to spend time with her husband Tim and her daughter Emerson. Her love for animals extends to her home with a ragtag group of mutts and rescues.

Vicki is a life long westsider and proud supporter of Reitz football. She is an avid gardener and looking forward to Master Gardener training. She loves being part of the AMS family and being able to interact with clients and their furry kids.

Arvil heads up our kennel attendant staff. His observations skill level is high with all of his “family of pets” getting first-rate care.

Erin is attending Purdue University to receive her doctorate of veterinary medicine. When she is home on breaks, she works as a vet assistant. Erin has experience working on her family’s dairy farm but enjoys working at Animal Medical Services. She hopes to return to the Evansville area when she graduates in 2023.

Originally from San Diego. Moved to southern Indiana in 2002. Been in the Veterinary field since 2000. Have a daughter, Maggie, a son, Will and 5 cats. Enjoy taking little weekend trips with my husband, Carl, game nights with friends and just hanging out at home.

My name is Kelsey Nash. I am 19 years old and currently a sophomore at the University of Southern Indiana majoring in Healthcare Administration. I started AMS in May and have loved working here since then. I have two dogs by the name of Paisley (2 years old) and Reba (8 months old).
